Samuel "Sam" Huston, 73, of Chattanooga, Tenn., formerly of Ashland, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017, in Hospice of Chattanooga Care Center.
He was born June 22, 1944, in Soldier, the son of the late Joe Huston Jr. and Ruth Dean Huston. In addition to his parents, he was receded in death by two brothers, Paul "PR" Huston and Larry (Mike) Huston.
He was a business owner of Retail Tobacco Stores, an owner and trainer of thoroughbred race horses, member of the Ashland Elks, a KY colonel and attended Ooletewah Baptist Church. He also loved being outdoors, his horses, family, friends and dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Carole McGraw Huston of Chattanooga; one daughter, Angela Huston Wright of Ashland; two sons, Andrew Huston of Tampa, Fla., and Adam (Mindy) Huston of Olive Hill; one brother, Joe Huston of Ashland; one stepdaughter, Stephanie Huskins-Darnell of Chattanooga; one stepson, Drue Humberger of Chattanooga; five grandchildren, Jessica (Allen) Huston, Ryan Huston, Matthew (MaryRebekah) Wright, Emily Wright and Sarah Wright; two stepgrandchildren, Madaline Huskins and Joshua Huskins; and two great-grandchildren, Shane Cascante Huston and Alden Cascante Huston.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2017, at Miller Funeral Home with Pastor Terry Dean officiating. Entombment will be in Ashland Cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
