Samuel Gary Wilson, 73, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, in University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
Samuel was born Oct. 17, 1944, in Grayson, to the late Everett Wilson and Shirley Messer Wilson Hall.
He retired as a Line Crew Supervisor with American Electric Power after 35 years of service. He was a Kentucky Colonel and of the Baptist Faith.
Samuel leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Liza Florence Fannin Wilson; two sons, Gary Wayne Wilson of Westwood and Shawn Kevin Wilson (Lynne) of Ironton; one daughter, Angela Lynn Wilson Munn (Charles) of Cannonsburg; three brothers, Everett Wilson Jr., Roy Wilson and Mike Wilson; three sisters, Mary Hensley, Dale Hall and Mona Shaffer; 14 grandchildren, Matthew Munn, Justin Munn, Amelia Keith, Nathan Wilson, Sydney Wilson, Samantha Wilson, Sophie Wilson, Dan Metzler, Taylor Metzler, Megan Dalton, Alexandra Wilson, Gavin Dalton, Catlyn Wilson and Willow Wilson; five great-grandchildren, Cohen Munn, Dawson Metzler, Arraya Wilson, Hailey Wilson and Savannah Keith; and a host of nieces and nephews, who looked at Samuel as Papaw.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday Jan. 31, 2018, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood with Bill Oaks, Ed Hond and Bob Baldridge officiating. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
