Shawn Mathew Whitt Shawn Mathew Whitt, 40, of Ashland, son of Gary and Sharon Hall Whitt, was carried home by a band of angels, December 2 in Kings Daughters Medical Center following a life long battle with cerebral palsy. He attended the cerebral palsy school, Russell Independent, and Ashland Active Daycare.
Shawn was born October 8, 1978 in Ashland, Kentucky. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are 2 brothers, Mark R. Whitt (Anita) of Catlettsburg, Kentucky and Kevin (Susan) Whitt of Ashland, Kentucky; a niece, Hope Whitt; and 3 nephews, Michael Poplin, Brandon Whitt, and Jared Whitt.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 6 at 1 p.m. at Preston Family Funeral Home by Brother Leo Ison and Brother Steve Fraley. Burial will be in the Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 11 a.m. until service time. The family would like to send a very special thank you to the wonderful people of Kingsbrook Life Care Center.

I work at Kingsbrook, and saw Shawn Whitt day to day and he was one of my favorites. I am so sad to hear this it breaks my heart. Prayers for the family and friends

My deepest sympathies are sent to Shawn's family. We loved him deeply and everyday he brought us joy. It was our pleasure to take care of him. Kingsbrook will not be the same. Thank you for sharing him with us. He touched so many people. Our love and prayers are with you all.
