Shirley Leadingham Robinson, 86, of Ashland, widow of James C. Robinson, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
She and James lived for more than 31 years in Dehue, W.Va., where they raised their two sons and made their living before retiring to Summit.
Shirley was born Aug. 27, 1930, the daughter of the late William and Jeston Leadingham.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, George, Charles, Robert, Raymond and Eugene; and two sisters, Bonnie Stathes and Pauline Leadingham.
She was educated in Boyd County and was a member of Hoods Creek Enterprise Baptist Church, where she loved to sing in the choir for as long as she was able.
She is survived by two sons, James M. (Pam) Robinson of Cape Coral, Fla., and Charles David (Kim) Robinson of Huntington, W.Va.; eight sisters, Gladys Tipton, Betty Wheeler, Janice Wheeler, Laura Ripenhoff, Eula (Charles) Green, Ina (Ronnie) Salyers and Patricia (Charles) Jarrett; five grandchildren, Joshua (Katie) Robinson, Joseph Robinson, Lindsay Robinson, Charles (Jessica) Robinson II and Natalie (Ryan) Keaton; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including one very special niece, Teresa Snyder, who drove for her, shopped for her and provided companionship and love for the past several years. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2017, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland with Tim Porter and Leo Ison officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at the funeral home.
