Shirley Ellen Trippett, 76, of Greenup, went to be with the Lord Friday, June 17, 2016, surrounded by her loving family at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Shirley was born Oct. 6, 1939, in Greenup, a daughter of the late Homer and Essie Sturgill Woods.
Shirley had worked as a counselor for several years at the Transitions Corp. half-way House in Ashland. She attended the Greenup Church of God and Chinns Branch Baptist Church in Wurtland. She was involved in Nursing Home Ministries for over 27 years and had been a volunteer at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ronald Ray Trippett; a son, Ronald Ray Trippett Jr., and his wife, Cheryl, of South Shore; a daughter, Rebecca Cornett, and her husband, Anthony, of Greenup; six brothers, Homer I. Woods of Greenup, Woods and his wife, Darlene, of Russell, Gary Woods and his wife, Judy, of Wurtland, James F. Woods and his wife, Carmel, of Chillicothe, John Woods and his wife, Susan, of Florida and Norman Woods and his wife, Kim, of Raceland; two sisters, Nora Woods of Flatwoods and Rose Edwards and her husband, Dave, of Worthington; a very special friend, Carolyn Compston of Worthington; four grandchildren, Stephanie D. Roe and her husband, Michael, Daniel L. Trippett and his wife, Jennifer, Bryanna Roar and Austin Cornett; and four great-grandchildren, Jacob Roe, Lauren Roe, Brynlee Trippett and Conner Trippett.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Bishop Kevin Witt, J.R. Asbury and Hyden Cornett. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday and one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
