Sue's Story

Sue Thompson Griffith, 75, of Catlettsburg, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, with her loving family at her side.
Mrs. Griffith was born June 7, 1941, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Alton and Alma Blankenship Thompson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Oliver "Ollie" Griffith, July 5, 2016; a son, David Oliver Griffith; and four brothers, Bill, Wayne, Harry Joe and Tom Thompson.
Sue was a 1958 graduate of Ashland High School. She has owned Griffith Tax Service for more than 47 years. Her hobbies included cooking, crafting, volunteering and ministering to the less fortunate. More than anything, she loved her family. She was a member of Grandview Church of God, where she served with the Women of Church of God. She and her husband were very involved with the Craigsville Church Camp in West Virginia, where they spent many summers.
She is survived by her children, Teresa Griffith Caudill and husband Paul of Ashland, Lee Ann Griffith Moore of Catlettsburg; and Douglas Griffith and wife Teresa of Catlettsburg; a daughter-in-law, Robin Adkins Griffith of Ashland; eight grandchildren, Todd (Indira) Caudill, Tracy Caudill, Trey Moore, Kasie (Ryan) Moore Kennedy, Emily (Chris) Griffith Smith, Chauncey (Kristen)Griffith, Luke (Morgan)Griffith, Becca Griffith, Holli Clevenger and Hannah Burton; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild expected in October, Baby Kennedy; a sister, Judy Clevenger of Ashland; and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Thompson and Jody Thompson.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Neal Funeral Home in Catlettsburg with Brother Danny Goins and Pastor Trey Parsons officiating. Final resting place will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m Monday, April 17, 2017, at the funeral home.
