Sylvia "Toby Large, 79, of Flatwoods, went to be with her family again in Heaven on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, in Ashland Community Hospice Care Center.
Mrs. Large was born Nov. 11, 1937, to the late Eddie and Zora Meade in Van Lear, KY.
She was a coal miner's daughter that lived in Possum Hollow attending the same grade school with Loretta Lynn.
Toby was the last living member of her family. She shared a close relationship with her several aunts and uncles and has shed many tears since their passing.
She was retired from McDowell Elementary and Steel's Pharmacy in Ashland, where she was an excellent cook for many years. While she wasn't cooking she enjoyed pencil drawing and won a blue ribbon in an art show for this skill. She was of the Pentecostal Faith but loved attending different churches, listening to her husband Ronnie's gospel quartet, The Crownsmen.
Surviving is her husband of 63 years and most of all her best friend she was never apart from, Ronnie L. Large; two children, Peggy Vance and Ronnie C. (Anita) Large; six grandchildren, Bobby Green, Tracy Green, Lori Kidwell, Kristina Mahan, Kevin Large and Travis Large; 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
