Thomas L. Rhodes 78 of Ashland, Ky. died Friday, March 1, 2019 at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods, Ky.
Tom Rhodes was born May 1, 1940 in Ashland, Ky., to Mary McNamee Rhodes and Thomas H. Rhodes.
Tom attended Holy Family grade school and high school, and graduated from Millersburg Military Institute in Millersburg, Ky., where he made several life long friends. He then attended Transylvania University and completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at Morehead University. During this time, he met Patricia Holloway and they were married August 29, 1963. After completing his education, he went to work for Armco Steel and retired from there in 1992.
Tom was very active in the Elks Club for over 40 years and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, and Holy Family Church. He enjoyed photography, trivia, horse racing, fishing with his son in Florida, and especially traveling with his wife Pat.
Tom is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patricia Holloway Rhodes. He is also survived by his son Erik of St. Petersburg, Fla., his daughter Cindy and husband Chip Devereux of Lexington Ky., and his grandson Thomas, who brought him much joy, of Lexington, Ky.; his brother-in-laws Jim Holloway and wife Gina of Md., Dave Holloway and wife Barb of Vt., and Rick Holloway and wife Linda of N.C.; also cousins Cathy Rhodes Kasriel, Louise Rhodes Wright, Jeanne Rhodes Prince and Patsy Rhodes Robinson. In addition, he is survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the nurses and caregivers and staff at Trinity Station Retirement Community for all of their love, care and kindness to Tom and his wife Pat over the last several years.
Friends may call Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Holy Family Church one hour before funeral mass. Funeral Mass will be conducted Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 11 a.m. by V.Rev. D. Andrew Garner, KHS. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland.

My deepest sympathy to you all. I always enjoyed seeing Mr. Rhodes and spending time at your home. Although nearly 40 years have passed I can still see the look on his face when my motorcycle kickstand left a mark on his newly paved driveway!
