Thomas H. Wolfe, 97, of Rush, died Saturday, May 28, 2017, in the Boyd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Thomas was born Feb. 14, 1920, in Coalton, a son of the late Thomas Jefferson and Rena Nicely Wolfe. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded by his wife, Mary Jones Wolfe who died Feb. 10, 2005; a son, Joey Wolfe; and all of his brothers and sisters, Fred, Delbert, Paul, John and Dan Wolfe, Ivory Gullett, Pauline Bowling, Rena Roberts and Kathleen Wolfe.
Thomas was a retired self-employed welder and truck driver and was the owner and operator of Thomas H. Wolfe Grocery.
Thomas was in the U.S. Army and served with his five brothers and all served during World War II and all returned home from the war.
He is survived by three children and their spouses, Jeff and Penny Wolfe of Winchester, Phillip and Sherry Wolfe of Grayson, and Sandra and The Rev. Joed Rice of Rush; six grandchildren, Kasey Beckham, Jessica Rice, Rachel Harper, Cory Wolfe, Hannah Wolfe and TJ. Wolfe; and five great-grandchildren, Grayson Beckham, Sarah Beckham, Eli Harper, Evan Harper and Lydia Wolfe.
Funeral services for Thomas will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Lazear Funeral Home Chapel in Ashland by Pastors Stan Williams and Joed Rice. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
