Walter Leroy "Butch" Morrison, 74, passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2017, in I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Jan. 8, 1943, in Baltimore, Md., to Walter and Gladys Maynard Morrison.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Vandergriff and Sharon Hunt.
He was a 1961 graduate of Raceland High School in Raceland. Walter served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1969. He was employed at Borg-Warner Corporation in Muncie, Ind., for thirty years and retired in 1992.
Walt enjoyed gardening, studying Civil War and World War II history, and discussing the possibility of life on other planets.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Shirley Lewis Morrison; sister, Linda (Ken) Carson of Canal Winchester, Ohio; a brother, Dennis (Shelia) Morrison of Worthington; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory Washington Street Chapel in Muncie, Ind.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
