Wanda's Story

Wanda Cook Sanders, 92, of Argillite, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Kentucky, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Sanders was born June 5, 1925, in Greenup, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Julia Huff and Orlando Castle.
She was a teacher for three years in Florida and taught school for 30 years at Greenup County System before retiring. She was a devoted deliverer for Greenup County Meals on Wheels, was a member of Greenup County Senior Citizens and Greenup County Dance Club. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands, William Cook, Arthur Collins and Alfred Sanders; four brothers, Ara Castle, Ira Castle, Laurys Castle and Donald Castle; three sisters, Eva Stacy, Blanche Stewart and Lora Gould.
She is survived by one son, John and Jessie Cook of Argillite, Kentucky; one daughter, Sandra and Richard Mendez of Argillite, Kentucky; one sister, Mildred Cook of Tampa, Florida; five grandchildren, Missy Griffith, Traci Jo Campbell, Richie Mendez, Jd Cook and Jenna Cook; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky, by Pastor Gary Airring and Pastor Dwayne Slusher. Burial will be in Huff Cemetery in Argillite, Kentucky.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday.
