As a proud American patriot, he served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea.
As a profession, he devoted 20 years as an outstanding Air Traffic Controller for the Federal Aviation Agency. He was once recognized by President Kennedy for his outstanding performance while assisting in an emergency landing.
After retiring, he turned his love for golf into a second career, earning a Professional Golf Association card and working at Daytona Beach Country Club. After retiring as a Pro, he played in senior tournaments.
This giant of a man peacefully left this earth, surrounded by loving family to enter Heaven.
He left behind his wife, Betty Bayes; three daughters, Vicki Bayes Smith, Cindy Bayes and Rebecca (Ron) Duecker; and two grandchildren, Gabe and Jenna, whom he loved very much.
A celebration of his life will be planned at a later time.
