William Enos Christy, 104, of Catlettsburg, went to be with his Lord on Monday, August 21, 2017, at his daughter's home with his family at his side.
Mr. Christy was born January 20, 1913, in Lewis County, KY, son of the late William Ernest and Minty Conn Christy.
On September 15, 1948, William married the love of his life, Jessie Ann Caudill Christy who preceded him in death on May 9, 2017, after 67 years of marriage.
William was a graduate of Lewis County High School and attended Berea College, served his country honorably in the US Army during WWII being stationed in England, France and Germany, and retired in 1975 from C & O Railroad as a camp car cook.
He was a VFW Life Member, a member of Lewis County Historical Society and attended Sandy City Freewill Baptist Church.
His hobbies included gardening, genealogy and reading.
William took care of his mother for over 30 years until she died in 1981 at the age of 94.
Survivors include his children, son William Michael Christy and his wife, Linda Diane Kitchen Christy, of Charleston, SC; daughter Linda Gail Christy Garlock and her husband, Robert, of Catlettsburg; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Jessie M. Christy of Greenup, KY.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Carl Christy, Joe Christy, Morton Christy, Earl Christy, Tony Christy; and sister, Nellie Custer; sisters-in-law, Manchie Christy, Esta Christy, Melcine Christy, Betty Christy; and brother-in-law, Leo Custer.
Funeral service to honor Mr. Christy will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at the Neal Funeral Home. Bro. Ray Stephens will officiate. Final resting place in Waring Cemetery, Garrison, KY, With military honors by Vanceburg VFW.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
