William A. "Bill" Gillum, 70, of Ashland, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017, in Huntington Health and Rehabilitation.
Bill was born Aug. 18, 1946, in Ashland, to the late Henry and Jewell Waddell Gillum.
He was a graduate of Boyd County High School, served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired in 1990 from the VA Hospital.
Bill was a member of Post 93 of Kenova, W.Va. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, cowboy boot collection, motorcycling and fireworks displays. Bill was a member of Westwood Church of God.
Bill is survived by two sons, Michael Gillum and his wife, Tina, of Catlettsburg, and Jeff Gillum and his wife, Brenda, of Ashland; four grandchildren, Alexis Gillum, Chase Gillum, Cameron Gillum and Hunter Gillum; a brother, Roy Gillum (Michelle) of Lakeland, Fla.; and two sisters, Doris Yates (Larry) of Clarksville, Tenn., and Helen McCarty (Larry) of Seminole, Fla.
Funeral services to honor Mr. Gillum will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, at Neal Funeral Home, 2409 Center Street in Catlettsburg. Pastor Frank Hulett will officiate. Final resting place will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland with Military honors by the U.S. Air Force.
