Betty's Story

Betty Jo Quillen Wright, 92, left her earthly home Wednesday April 5, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center, with her family by her side.
Betty was born Sept 27, 1924, to the late Vernie, Sr. and Elsie Porter Quillen.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, John "Jay" Wright; a son, Billy Ray Wright; a grandson, Johnny Ray Wright; a great-grandson, Kyle Anthony Fields; and two brothers, Vernie Quillen Jr. and Bob Quillen.
She was a longtime member of Chadwick Creek Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed traveling, doing crafts and sewing, but she enjoyed most spending time with family.
She is survived by two daughters, Sue (Roy) Fields and Doris (Greg) Finley, both of Catlettsburg; a brother, Harold Quillen of Ironton, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Christy (Joe) Griffith of Rush, Carol (Jeff) Layne of Catlettsburg, Stephanie (Randy) Cox of Morehead, Darren (Shannon) Roberts of Webbville, Roy (Candi) Fields of Grayson, Lori (Brian) Branham of Catlettsburg and Neal Wright of Nashville, Tenn.; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Catlettsburg Cemetery with her nephew, Pastor Bobby Quillen officiating.
Visiting hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
