Bill Dean Hester went to sleep Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, ending his long struggle with Alzheimer's, with his loving family by his side.
He was in the care of Community Hospice in Ashland and Elliott Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sandy Hook.
He was born May 5, 1935, to Madge Moore Hester and Drew Hester.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Etley Hester, Henry Hester, Frank Hester and Ralph Hester; and a baby sister, Overta Faye Hester.
He retired from Catlettsburg Refinery in 1997 and was a lifelong resident of Ashland and Boyd County. Bill was a member of the Ashland Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses where he served for more than 30 years.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 64, years, Anna Hayes Hester; and four sons, William Dean (Rona) Hester, Keith Allen (Melinda) Hester, Lesley Carlson (Patty) Hester and Eric Neal (Laura) Hester; four sisters, Betty Huff, Bernice Dobson, Susie Frazier and Linda Kay Green; two brothers, Drew Hester Junior and Dale Hester; and many nieces and nephews.
He was a much beloved papaw to nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Ashland under the direction of Joseph Monnet.
He will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
