Billy J. Potter, 79, of Ashland, loving husband of Patricia Bryant Potter, died Friday evening, June 23, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center following an extended illness.
Bill was born July 18, 1937, in Ashland, a son of the late Dykes and Donna Lee Longshore Potter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Potter in 2014; a grandson, Kyle Potter in 2012; a brother, Gary Potter; and a sister, Judy Potter.
He was a member of the Summitt Missionary Baptist Church, a member of the Northeast Kentucky Wildlife Fish and Game Club and a retired serviceman with AEP (Kentucky Power Company).
In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by two sons, Rick Potter of Ashland, and Steve Potter and his wife, Lisa, of Ashland; two granddaughters, Misty Dawn McCubbin and her husband, Curtis, of Louisville, and Tabitha Kemp and her husband, Ryan, of Danville; a grandson, Jacob Potter and his wife, Meredith, serving in the U.S. Air Force; a great-grandson, Harrison Kyle McCubbin; two sisters, Janet Zwieg and her husband, Roger, of Alexandria, Minn., Alene Garvin and her husband, Larry, of Wurtland; and three brothers, Robert Potter (Linda Lewis) of Flatwoods, Ronnie Potter and his wife, Faye, of Rush, and Mitchel Potter and his wife, Pat, of Greenup.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland. Entombment will be in the Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland.
