Carol Mae Proffitt, 79, of Flatwoods, died Wednesday May 10, 2017, in Morning Pointe.
She was born Oct. 2, 1937, in Eskdale, W.Va., the daughter of the late Harold Waddell and Ruth Stone Nunley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Proffitt; a grandson, Keith Maynard; and a sister, Jeanie Markel.
She retired as a hairdresser from Carl's Style Room. She was a member of Greenup County Homemakers Association and Greenup County Quilt Club.
She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy (Dan) Gadlage of Louisville, Edna "Edie" (Frank) Ratliff of Jacksonville, Fla., and Kellie Freeman of Ironton, Ohio; one son, Paul Edward (Debbie) Proffitt of Flatwoods; two sisters, Patty Kaylor of Columbus, Ohio and Brenda Rankin of Catlettsburg; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Miller Funeral Home in Ashland with Chaplin Randy Tate officiating. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017, at the funeral home.
