Charles Forbes Jr., 87, of South Shore, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Charlie was born Oct. 31, 1929, in Ashland, a son of the late Charles H. Forbes and Bertha Campbell Forbes.
He was a Navy War Veteran and served on the USS Boxer. He was member of Sunshine United Methodist Church, Harrison Fullerton Masonic Lodge 937 in South Shore and a Charter member of Greenup County Wildlife Club in South Shore. Charlie was a retired salesman for Western Southern Insurance Company.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ensor Forbes, to whom he married Dec. 26, 1949; two daughters, Gail (Philip) Howerton of South Shore and Jeanie (Mark) Prince of Wheeling, W.Va.; one brother, Carl (Janet) Forbes of South Shore; three grandchildren, Brad Howerton, Nicole Prince and Aaron Prince; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2017, at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore with Rev. Norman Potter, Rev. Bob Sweeney and Brother Brad Howerton officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in South Shore.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., with Masonic service by Harrison Fullerton Masonic Lodge 937 at 8 p.m., Sunday, May 21, 2017, and after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
