Charles E. Sammons, 81, of Ashland, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017, in Ashland.
Mr. Sammons was born Dec. 4, 1935, to the late William and Beadie Walker-Sammons in Access. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Tom Sammons; and a sister, Faye Sammons.
Charles retired in 1994 as superintendent for the Raceland-Worthington Schools, was the former principal of the Russell Vocational School and was the Russell High School Football Coach.
He was a member of Bridges Christian Church and loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife, Donna Jean Sammons; daughters, Sherri (Ed) Crouse and Tracey Sammons; a son, Charlie Joe (Karen) Sammons; grandchildren, Rory Charles Chapman, Jeffery Crouse, Brianna Crouse, Charlie Joe Sammons Jr., Jason Sammons, TyLea Hopper and Shelby Sammons; great-grandchildren, Juliet Chapman, Jason Sammons and Elizabeth Sammons; a brother, Claude Sammons; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with Pastor Mark McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
