Charley Edwin Booth, 83, of Louisa, passed away Saturday, June 24, 2017, in Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
Charley was born April 15, 1934, to Everette and Tennie Booth.
He was also preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Audrey Burgess Booth; a stepdaughter, Leah Burgess Davis; and a sister, Anna Louise Booth.
Charley served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He monitored Soviet Radio Communications while with the Signal Corp in Ethiopia.
Charley was a retired math professor and taught advanced math for nearly 30 years at Paul Blazer High School. After retiring from Blazer, he taught at Shawnee State University. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Louisa.
He is survived by his sister, Eleanor Smith of West Jefferson, Ohio; a daughter, Jane Burgess (Dave) Wallen of Louisa; a stepson, Jeff (Kathy) Burgess of Lexington; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a nephew, Mark Smith; and a niece, Vicki Ramga.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017, First United Methodist Church in Louisa with Rev. Scot Hoeksema and Rev. Mark Smith officiating.
Visitation will be after noon Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made to Alzheimer's Association at alz.org or First United Methodist Church 202 W. Main St., Louisa, KY 41230.
Young Funeral Home in Louisa is in charge of arrangements.
