David's Story

David L. "Shovelhead" Cole, 60 of Ashland, passed away Thursday March 30, 2017, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, with his family at his side.
Mr. Cole was born April 6, 1956, in Huntington, W.Va., to Mary T. Mansfield Cole of Catlettsburg and the late Oscar Cole.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Cindy Moye, Margaret Cole, and Missy Mason.
David was a graduate of Barboursville High School and owner of Iron City Choppers Motorcycle Repair Shop. He was a member of Brothers of the Wheel and enjoyed bikes and cars.
David is survived by his mother Mary; his adoring wife of 17 years, Katherine A. Slone Cole; a son, David O. Cole (Kathy) of Ashland; a daughter, Kristine Thornburg of Ashland; two precious grandchildren, Brooklynn Cole and Christopher Thornburg; two sisters, Patty Varah (Collin) and Bobbie Cole,; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service honoring Mr. Cole was at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 2, 2017, at Brothers of the Wheel, Northeast Kentucky Club House.
Kilgore & Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg was in charge of arrangements.
