David Lester Sherman, 78, of Flatwoods, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell.
He was born Oct. 25, 1938, in Minford, Ohio, a son of the late Lewis Casper "Cap" Sherman and Melissa Lyon Sherman. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Effie Stambaugh Sherman; and nine older siblings.
David was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Flatwoods. He retired after 36 years as a maintenance inspector from Armco/AK Steel and spent many years running "The Sherm Shop" in the Hot Strip Mill. He was a former square dance caller who loved Bluegrass Music, woodworking, camping and most importantly spending time with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Donna Sigler Sherman of Flatwoods; a son, David A. (Susan) Sherman of Carrollton; a daughter, Sheila (Paul) Frinak of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandsons, Eric Frinak and his fiancé, Rachel Beam and Kyle Frinak and his girlfriend Liz Spence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home-13th Street Chapel in Ashland with Brother Marvin Boggs officiating. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at the funeral home.
