Delbert Fannin, 97, of Ashland, formerly Fairborn, Ohio, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at his residence.
Delbert was born Oct. 31, 1919, in Elliott County, to the late Oscar and Maude Lewis Fannin.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha Mae Carter Fannin; and a daughter, Patty Fannin.
Delbert was an Army World War II veteran. He was a retired farmer, cook, carpenter and labor with Wright/Patterson Air Force Base. He was also a founder and member of Fannin Enterprise Baptist Church in Elliott County. He attended Hoods Creek Enterprise Baptist Church in Ashland.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Amanda Lee Fraley Fannin of Ashland; his sons, Larry Fannin and spouse Betty of Louisville, Dwight Fannin and wife Lana of Fairborn, Ohio and Jackie Fannin and wife Sheree of New Carlisle, Ohio; a stepson, Joe Barker and wife Anna of Ashland; his daughters, Vernadine Weatherell and husband Harry of Gasquet, Calif., and Joyce Givens of Florida; a stepdaughter, Bernice Claxon and husband Don of Ashland; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at Hoods Creek Enterprise Baptist Church with Brother Leo Ison Officiating. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Byron Cemetery in Greene County, Ohio with military rites.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the church. Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangements.
