Denver Willis Jobe, Sr.
1928 - 2017
Denver Willis "Woody" Jobe, Sr., of Ashland, went home to be with the Lord on Monday morning, February 6th, 2017.
Denver was born to Everrett and Alta Mae Musser-Jobe on November 10, 1928, and was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Helen York Jobe, in 2010. He is also preceded in death by his sons; Denver Jobe, Jr., and Carl Eugene Jobe, and his wife Betty; granddaughter Cindy Jobe; brothers Robert and Everette Jr.; and sisters Shirley Hicks and Faye Fultz.
Denver was heavily involved in his community, and will be remembered fondly. He always made people smile.
He was a member of Mamre Baptist Church for over 50 years in Kitts Hill, Ohio, where he was an usher and greeter. Denver was also a 32nd degree Mason and a 55-year member of Poage Masonic Lodge, and Rush Masonic Lodge, where he was a Past Master 1983. Denver was also a Kentucky Colonel and a Distinguished West Virginian.
Denver was probably best known for his involvement in the Iron City Antique Car Club, where he held numerous offices since 1961. He was a valued member of the Evening Optimist Club, Boy Scouts (Cub Division), and the VCCA Chevrolet Club, and the Scottish Rites 715.
He also founded the family business of Jobe's Ashland Radiator and Body Shop, in 1945, which was located on Greenup Avenue for many years.
He is survived by his son, Clarence, and his wife Kathy, who took care of Denver in their home for the last few months of his life. He is also survived by grandchildren Angie (Steve) Phillips, Bob (Robin) Jobe, Nate (Jessica) Jobe, Casey (Tiffany) Jobe, Matt (Krystal) Jobe. Chad (Michelle) Jobe, and Derrick (Christy) Jobe. Denver also had 21 great-grandkids; a sister Nell "Toad" Phillips and a host of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special friend Lilly Hayes.
Funeral service for Mr. Jobe will be at 11:00am Thursday February 9, 2017 at the Neal Funeral Home, 2409 Center Street, Catlettsburg. Final resting place in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens. Pastor Ron Fultz will officiate. Visiting hours will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Wednesday evening at the Funeral Home with Masonic Service at 7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, Denver asked that donations be made to the Poage Masonic Lodge, 1500 Central Ave., Ashland, KY 41101 or Mamre Baptist Church, 2367 County RD 182, Kitts Hill, OH 45645.
