Donal Gene Mulkey, 80, of Grayson, went to be with his Lord Monday, July 31, 2017, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. Donal was born Dec. 12, 1936, in Lawrence County, a son of the late Glen and Jessie Marie Blevins Mulkey.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Roger L. Mulkey, Lloyd Elmo Mulkey and Darrell Mulkey; a sister, Joann Mulkey Dover; and a niece, Bobbi Jo Dover.
Donal was an avid horseman, Barrel racer, pole bender and trail rider. He was a member of Carpenters Local 472 for 50 years, with a life-time membership. He retired after 20 years from Ashland Oil Refinery.
Donal was a past master of Trimble Lodge 145 for 50 years, former member of Order of Eastern Star, where he was a worthy patron, a Kentucy colonel, past president of M&KQH association, assistant Boy Scout leader for several years and of the Baptist Faith.
Donal is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Thelma "Irene" Hensley Mulkey; two daughters, Coni (Kenneth) Harlow and Barbara (Paul) Logan; five grandchildren, Lisa (Greg) Bishop, Jessica Lee (Michael) Horton, Christy Caudill, Marty (Kate) Brown and Andrew Logan; two great-grandchildren, Stephen Horton and Jonathan Horton, all of Grayson; five sisters, Sylvia Adams of Bucyrus, Ohio, Clarice Gallion of Catlettsburg, Julia Schmidt of Kingsport Tenn., Dottie Stephens of Columbus, Ohio and Linda Sue May of Grayson; and three brothers, Randy Mulkey of Grayson, Harold Mulkey of Columbus, Ohio and Ronnie Mulkey of Grayson.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Ed Porter and Gary Jordan officiating. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
