Donald Bruce Shaw, of Okolona, formerly of Ashland, returned to his Heavenly Father Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, after a short illness.
He was born March 11, 1944, in Grove City, Penn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Keith Shaw and Helen Rose Heckman Shaw; and his brother, Larry Shaw.
Don was a graduate of Lakeview High School and Thiel College. He was a U.S. Marine veteran.
He was a long-time resident of Ashland, where he served as Circulation Director at the Daily Independent for many years.
He was active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and other church activities.
Don was a city council member in Greenville, Penn., for many years.
Don had the ability to intelligently discuss most topics and was well regarded and respected in the community. After living ten years in Pennsylvania, Don and Sandee moved to Louisville to be closer to family.
He was a loving father and devoted husband to Sandee Wilson for 52 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by their four children, Donald Bruce (Joyce) Shaw II, Aaron Shaw (Gregory Clayton), Melissa Dale (Michael) Davis and Benjamin Wilson (Kelly) Shaw ; 12 grandchildren; a sister, Kathy Shaw; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017, at Schoppenhorst Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home in Shephardsville. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, in Brookland Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
