Doris Juanita Sparks Gallaher, 85, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at her residence.
Doris was born March 10, 1931, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Anna Martin Sparks.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Thomas Gallaher; three sisters, Charlotte Boward, Ethel Elam and Edith Blankenship; and three brothers, Jim Sparks, Ernest "Pete" Sparks and Charles Sparks.
Doris was a faithful member of 13th Street Freewill Baptist Church in Ashland. She retired after many years of service from General Telephone Company of Kentucky.
She is survived by her daughter and caretaker, Cindy Setliff (Joe Ramella) of Huntington, W.Va.; a daughter, Deborah Sexton of Ashland; a son, Robert (Peggy) Gallaher of Russell; four grandsons, Zach (Amy) Setliff of Huntington, Justin (Marianne) Setliff of Troy, Ohio, Robert Gallaher of Ashland and Carson Gallaher of Russell; one granddaughter, Madison Gallaher of Russell; one great-grandson, Beckham Setliff of Huntington; three sisters, Allene Adkins of Christiansburg, Ohio, Martha Stollings of Greensboro, Md., and Gladys Hoffman of Hagerstown, Md.; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at 13th Street Freewill Baptist Church in Ashland with The Rev. Steve Williams and Pastor Chuck Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
