Dr. Claude Ronald's Story
Dr. Claude Ronald Lee, 74, of Ashland, graduated to his eternal home Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
He was the husband of Lucretia (Mellon) Lee for 47 years.
Ron was born in Kenova, W.Va., July 1, 1942, the first of twin boys born to James Mason Lee of Hitchins and Virginia Katherine (Howell) Lee of Catlettsburg. The family soon moved to Ashland where Ron and his brother grew up in Frogtown. They participated in the school band and Boy Scout Troop 114, sponsored by Armco Steel, becoming the youngest Eagle Scouts in KY in 1955 at age 13.
Both boys graduated from Ashland High School in 1960 and attended
Ashland Community College before moving to Lexington to finish their college careers at the University of Kentucky. Ron attended dental school at UK and graduated in the spring of 1969.
He married Lucretia and started a dental practice in Ashland. In 1971 he accepted a position with the Veteran's Administration. In the following years he worked in Fort Wayne, Ind., Lake Mary, Fla. and Huntington, W.Va. He retired from the Veteran's administration in Jan. of 2014.
Ron was a long time member of the local chapter of the American Dental Association. Ron was a member of the Wildwood First Church of God. His love and commitment to the Lord was apparent to all who knew him. He served the Lord as a Sunday school teacher, youth counselor, elder and was in the process of writing a theological book.
Ron was a wonderful husband and father. He loved spending time with his family. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching movies with his daughter.
Ron is survived by his wife, Lucretia and their daughter Jenna Elizabeth Lee of Ashland; his twin brother, James Donald Lee also of Ashland and his wife Elizabeth Adams (Hill) Lee; and by Ron's 103 year old mother-in-law, Ruth Elizabeth Mellon.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at Wildwood First Church of God with Pastor Steve Harris officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home-Central Avenue Chapel in Ashland.
