Elton Dean Hambleton, 93, of South Point, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Dean was born Sept. 1, 1923, in Coopersville, Mich., to the late Frank Carlisle and Edna Teresa Brown Hambleton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane Wilbur Hambleton; and three brothers, Allan Hambleton, Ferris Lyle Hambleton and William Earl Hambleton.
Dean proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, where he served during World War II in the Philippines for three years. He was a former employee of Holland Motor Express, where he retired in 1985. He was a faithful Christian and a member of First Baptist Church of South Point, where he was a former Deacon.
He leaves behind his loving wife Janet DeSmit Tuinstra Hambleton; three daughters, Mary Lou (Marv) Modderman of Coopersville, Mich., Barbara Ann Kendra and Linda Lee (Dave) Bumstead, both of Grand Rapids, Mich.; one stepson, David Tuinstra of South Point; two stepdaughters, Sandra Tuinstra of Flatwoods and Karen Tuinstra of South Point; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
Private services will be at a later date.
Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood is in charge of the arrangements
