Ernest Ray "Mickey" McGuire, 78, of Summit, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 15, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center.
He was born Sept. 19, 1938, in Ft. Gay, W.Va., a son of the late Ernest Carter and Ethel Irene Back McGuire.
Mickey was an active member of Christian Fellowship Church in Catlettsburg. He was a 1954 graduate of Louisa High School and retired after many years of service from Ashland Oil as a Microwave/Radio Technician. Following his retirement he worked for Bell South Communications in Grayson. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was a member of Fred M. Gross Masonic Lodge 953, F&AM, Scottish Rite and a life member of American Relay League and National Rifle Association. He was an avid UK fan. He had a passion for Genealogy and enjoyed being an Amateur Radio Operator, call sign KD4KC.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Diana Lynn Cartmel McGuire of Summit; a son, Ernest Kevin McGuire (Carrie Elizabeth) of Catlettsburg; a daughter, Patsy Renee McGuire of Catlettsburg; a brother, William Joe McGuire (Sandy) of Catlettsburg; three sisters, Judith Webb (Joe) of Catlettsburg, Alice Clark (Chuck) of Grayson and Linda Franklin (Pat) of Pedro, Ohio; a grandson, Carter Grant McGuire of Catlettsburg; and a host of loving extended family members and dear friends.
Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Steen Funeral Home 13th Street Chapel with Pastor Sam Corns officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County with military rites provided by the U.S. Army and Kenova American Legion Post 93.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
