Ethel Mae Hereford Black, 93, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington with her son, daughter and son-in-law by her side.
She was born Nov. 2, 1923, to parents Frank and Emma Clay.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Frank Hereford and Fred Black; a daughter, Sharon Kay; and a grandson, Michael Scott.
Ethel was a long time member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
She is survived by sons, Larry (Ann) Michael of Ashland and Frank of Ashland; a daughter, Pam (Michael) Abrams of Lexington; five grandchildren, Brandon Abrams, Bruce Hereford, Chris Hereford, Melanie Cordle and Brittany Leader; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Emily Bowles of Morehead and Geneva Pritchard of Ashland; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Wolfe and Eloise Hereford; two brothers, Albert Clay of Tampa, Fla., and Allen Clay of Anderson, Ind.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2017, at Cribbs Hill Cemetery in Grayson.

The family would also like to thank the staff of Bluegrass Care and Rehab in Lexington for the loving care they extended her during the 2 plus years she resided with them.
