Eva Mae's Story
Eva Mae Barney Arthur, 71, of Grayson, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at the home of her daughter following a long battle with cancer.
Eva Mae was born Feb. 23, 1945, in Greenup County, a daughter of the late Henry Sr. and Bessie Ratliff Barney.
In addition to her parents, Eva Mae was preceded in death by three brothers, Thurman Barney, Herman Barney and Matthew Barney; and three sisters, Pauline Robertson, Irene Coffee and Bernice Tolliver.
She was a retired caregiver formerly with Stewart Home in Frankfort.
Survivors include, a daughter, Ruth Denise Hetzer and her husband, Jeff, of Westwood; and a son, Robert Arthur and his fiancé, Christie Shelton, of Ashland; four brothers, Henry Barney Jr. of Lloyd, Tom Barney of Greenup, Paul Barney of Lloyd, John Barney of Zephyrhills, Fla., and James Robert Barney of Shultz; two grandchildren, Jennifer Thomason and her husband Joe and Brandon Weik; four great-grandchildren, Aubrey Belcher, Landon DeMoro, Grayson Wade Thomason and Joseph Thomason; along with a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank her friends at Hope Chapel of Grayson and Community Hospice for the loving care that was displayed during Eva Mae's illness and home going.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at Little Rosa Old Regular Baptist in Lloyd with Elders Ira Atkins and Willis Tolliver officiating.
Friends may call after noon Thursday at the church.
Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood is in charge of arrangements.
