Frances's Story

Frances Howard, 79, of Wurtland, gained her wings Friday, June 2, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Howard was born Jan. 26, 1938 in Load, a daughter of the late Henry Lewis Darnell and Effie Mae Corns Darnell Adams Burton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband. Winfield Scott Howard; one daughter, Reta Howard Sipple; two brothers, Dennis Darnell and Freddie Adams; and one great-grandson, Tucker Troyer.
She was a member of Abundant Life Apostolic Church in Raceland and a former member of Apostolic Church of Big White Oak. Fran was known as a hard worker and a leader in the church. She led the Ten Commandments Campaign to keep the commandments in public places in the community. She was a secretary for former Judge Executive, Dick Ousley, a clerk for former County Clerk, Sonny Davidson and a member of Democratic Women's Club. She was honored as a Kentucky colonial. Over the years, she was a foster parent to several children, whom she was a granny to and loved dearly. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and a great witness for the Lord.
She is survived by three sons, Scott (Kathi) Howard of Maloneton, Ted Howard of Hillsboro and Mark (Trish) Howard of Lynn; two daughters, Linda Howard of Wurtland and Elizabeth "Liz' (Ed) Loan of York; two brothers, Sandy (Phyllis) Adams of Denver, Colo., and LeRoy Adams of Texas; two sisters, Bernice Ferguson of Wurtland and Thelma Hern of Ashland; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2017, at Apostolic Church of Big White Oak in York with Rev. Anthony Keeton, Rev. Randall Kelley and Rev. Shaun Howard officiating. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery in York.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2017, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Condolences may be sent rlrfuneralhome.com.
