Freda's Story

There is a song that says "...all because two people fell in love" and this is exactly what happened to allow us to celebrate the life of Freda Mae Young Adams, 86 of Wurtland, as she was called home Friday, May 27, 2017, surrounded by her loving daughters in Community Hospice Center in Ashland.
Freda was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Flatwoods, the youngest of eight siblings to the late Herman and Ollie Young.
She fell in love with and married her husband of 59 years, the late Elwood "Woody" Adams, together building their home in Wurtland. This union was blessed with four beautiful children, three daughters, Debbie (Chester) Kibbey of Kehoe, Pam (Roger) Belford of Beechy Creek and Kay Adams of Grants, N.M.; and one son, the late Bob Adams. This love grew and flourished bringing forth 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She will be greatly missed by her family and community alike. She was known to many through her food as the Head Cook for Raceland Independent Schools, as well as insisting on feeding everyone that stopped by her home for a visit.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Evans Funeral Home in Raceland with Dr. Tommy Melvin officiation. Burial will bein Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
Visitation will be after noon Tuesday at the funeral home.
