George Alex Carraway, 79, of Flatwoods, died, Thursday, April 6, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center following an extended illness.
George was born June 3, 1937, in Ashland, a son of the late O'Dell and Mollie Williams Carraway.
He was a member of 39th Street Baptist Church. He retired from Kentucky Electric Steel and was a former manager of Mussetter's Grocery. George was a graduate of Barber college and was a barber in the Mussetter's Plaza.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Dordeana Fairchild Carraway; five daughters, Paula Patton and husband Jeff, Patricia Melvin and husband Shawn, Pam Carraway, Penny Patrick and husband Buddy, and Paige Cox and husband Bobby; seven grandchildren, Penny Renae Clarke, Ashley McCarty, Courtney McCarty, Alec Melvin, Matthew Cox, Josh Cox and Ethan Cox; two great-grandchildren, Bethanie and Makayla Clarke; a sister, Betty Jo Radcliffe; a nephew, Barry Radcliffe; and his special pet, Coco.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland with Brother Jimmy Adkins officiating. Burial will be in Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
