George Leslie "Les" Grubb, 93, of Wurtland, went to be with the Lord Friday, March 24, 2017, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.
Mr. Grubb was born Aug. 1, 1923, in Wurtland, a son of the late George William and Laura Leslie England Grubb.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters; and one daughter-in-law, Patricia Ann Bailey Grubb.
He was retired from CSX Railroad where he worked for 42 years. George was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was ordained as a minister in 1966 at 21st Street Tabernacle Church by The Rev. E.R. Curry. George was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Katherine Mae Conley Grubb; three sons, Raymond Grubb of Raceland, Ronald Grubb of Flatwoods, and Mark Grubb and wife Angie of Wurtland; four daughters, Carrie Morris and husband Larry of Wurtland, Darlene Lute and husband John of Flatwoods, Loretta Bryan and husband Steve of Wurtland and Alisa Stepp and husband Harold of Wurtland; one brother, Willard Grubb and wife Corene of Wurtland; three sisters, Alma Tony and husband Paul of Wurtland, Janice Webb of Wurtland, and Mary Cordle and husband Calvin of Greenup; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County with Pastor Denver Woods officiating and miliatry rites presented by Marine Corps League Greenbo Detachments 1345.
Reed Funeral Home in Greenup is in charge of arrangements.
