George Samuel Maust Jr, 72, of Savannah, Ga., died Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at his home.
A native of Flatwoods, he was the son of the late Vesta Mae Caudle Maust and George Samuel Maust Sr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Joy Wick Maust; a brother, William Maust Sr.; and a sister, Cora Sue Hardy.
He was a 1963 graduate of Russell High School. George was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and served his country with two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Savannah VFW post 660 and served as Quarter Master. He was retired from Georgia Pacific Corporation.
He is survived by his daughters, Beverly K. (Gary) Donaldson of Rincon, Ga., and Cindy Maust Hicks of Columbus, Ga.; four sisters, Cherry (Marvin) Deborde from Russell, Lorraine (Sam) Morrison from South Shore, Peggy Hay from Berea and Betty Henderson from Brunswick, Ga.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec 28, 2016, at Savannah VFW Post 660, located on Ogeechee Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's name to Savannah VFW Post 660 in the form of money, winter wear, blankets, tents and nonperishable foods.
Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel in Garden City, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
