Harold Gene Sheffield, 76, of Hoods Run in Greenup County went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 4, 2017, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
Harold was born in Boyd County Sept. 16, 1940, a son of the late Ray and Irene Hayes Sheffield. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Dianne Grubb Sheffield.
He retired with 38 years of service from AK Steel as a furnace operator, attended Brigham Young University earning a degree in mechanical engineering and served in the National Guard from 1963 to 1969.
He is survived by four daughters, Rebecca Meadows (Renee Beckett) of Ashland, Colette Huddleston (Loren) of Dry Ridge, Nicole Sheffield of Greenup and Natalie Carter (Andrew) of Greenup; two sisters, Mildred Christensen (David) of Summit and Janet Shields (Clinton) of Flatwoods; eight grandchildren, Ryan Smith (Bethany), Brooke Jobe, Nicholas Sheffield (Jessica Gartin), Jordan Vance, Caroline Vance, Natasha Huddleston, Andrew "Trey" Carter and Jonathan Carter; two very special friends, Don Baker and Ebert Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Road Home Cemetery on Hoods Run in Greenup County by Brother Terry Bryant.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at Wright's Funeral Home in Greenup.
