Helen J. Osborne Snedegar, 93, of Russell, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, in Woodland Oaks Nursing Facility.
Mrs. Snedegar was born May 28, 1924, to the late Earl and Emma Osborne in Russell.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Creth Snedegar; a sister, Eloise Carter; and beloved nephew, Brian Snedegar.
Helen retired as a teacher from Russell Independent School System and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University. She was a member of Bridges Christian Church, a former Sunday School Teacher, a member of Eastern Star 144 and a volunteer for Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. Helen served on the auxiliary board for the Kings Daughters and Sons Home for the Aged. She was a member of Greenup County and Kentucky Teachers Associations.
She is survived by two nephews, C. H. (Brenda) Snedegar and Bill (Janet) Snedegar; two sisters-in-law, Helen B. Snedegar and Doris Snedegar; two great-nephews, Stephen Snedegar and Creth Snedegar; a great-niece, Katie Monroe; and many nieces and nephews loved by Helen.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Bridges Christian Church or Community Hospice Care Center.
