Howard Woodson Allen, 80, of Lynn, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017, at his residence with his family by his side.
Mr. Allen was born September 13, 1936, in Warnock, Kentucky, a son of the late Paul and Gladys Wolfe Allen.
He was of the Baptist faith and was a United States Army veteran. He was retired from AK Steel after 30 years. He loved to farm and furnished much of the fresh produce to the A&B produce Market which he co-owned.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, John Allen and Paul Allen; and one sister, Shirley Mae Bradley.
He is survived by his long time companion, Adria Blanton of Ashland, Kentucky; one son, Lonnie and Otilia Allen of Saniganico, Belize; two daughters, Pamela and Tony Greene of Ashland, Kentucky, and Lowise Jenkins of Wurtland, Kentucky; one daughter-in-law, Ann Allen of Lynn, Kentucky; one brother, William Paul and Cathy Allen of South Shore, Kentucky; two sisters, Patricia Needham of Morehead, 19 great-grandchildren.
Howard was an animal lover and for many years has been a supporter of S.T.A.R. His wish was that donations be made in his memory to one of the two animal rescue organizations. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Rev. Mike Allen. Burial will be in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Kentucky.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
