Jackie W. Barker, 75, a lifelong resident of Catlettsburg, passed away Tuesday June 20, 2017, in King's Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Mr. Barker was born Sept. 26, 1941, in Boyd County, to the late John and Lillian "Irene" Sperry Barker.
Jack was a 1959 graduate of Thomas R. Brown High School, he received his Bachelor's degree at Morehead State University, taught school at Catlettsburg High School and retired from Kentucky Power.
He was an avid University of Kentucky Basketball and Football fan, enjoyed golfing, fishing, and metal detecting. He was a member of the Lyons Club and Oakland Avenue Baptist Church.
Jack is survived by his adoring family, his wife of 51 years, Janet Lea Zornes Barker; their daughters, Lisa Farris and her husband, Mark, of Ashland, and Rebecca Vance and her husband, Greg, of Catlettsburg; six grandchildren, Trace Stafford, John Stafford (Samantha), Lindsey Stafford, Sam Duvall, Lillian Vance and Anna Vance; a brother, John W. Barker (Helen) of Catlettsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services to honor Mr. Barker will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Oakland Avenue Baptist Church. Pastor Mike Blankenship will officiate. Final resting place will be in Catlettsburg Cemetery.
Friends may call after noon Thursday at the church.
