Janet Sue Blair, 64, of Flatwoods, went to her heavenly home Wednesday, March 8, 2017, in King's Daughters' Medical Center in Ashland.
Janet was born Dec. 27, 1952, to the late James Garfield and Dorothy Kathern Wears Blair. She was one of seven children.
She was preceded in death by her father, James in 1968; her mother, Dorothy in 2015; her sister, JoAnn Hart in 2003; and her furry baby Maltese, Dottie Jo.
Janet devoted more than 20 years of her life teaching in Knott County and at Fairview High School. She will always be remembered by her former students and educators as a dedicated mentor to all that knew her.
She is survived by three sisters, Martha Gillum, Carol Morrison and Kris Abernathy, all of Ashland; two brothers, James Blair of Bardstown and Don Blair of Raceland, a furry baby, Gracie Le; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives throughout the area.
Janet was cared for during her illnesses by a loving nephew, Bobby Mills and a special friend, Cheryl Tutera.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at Caniff Funeral Home in Westwood with Brother Thorny Artrip officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
