Janet McDowell Walters, 80, of Ashland, died Friday, June 2, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
Janet was born Oct. 10, 1936, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Arnold D. and Bessie Forest McDowell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Walters.
Janet was a retired teacher's assistant with Boyd County School System and a member of Cannonsburg Trinity United Methodist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Johnna Walters of Ashland and Cathy Lewis-Howell of Ashland; three grandchildren, Jeremy Lewis, William (Lacey) Lewis and Allison Kemper; five great-grandchildren, Kodi, Saharreh, Lincoln, Kaia and Eden; two sisters, Libby Meade of Ashland and Jean Whitt of Ashland; and a special friend and caregiver, Sherry Ross of Ashland.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Ashland with Pastor Rob Jordan officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum in Ashland.
Friends may call after noon Tuesday at the mauseleum chapel.
Lazear Funeral Home in Ashland is in charge of arrangments.
