Juanita "Babaw" Moore Gartin, 82, of Greenup, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017, at her home in Wurtland, surrounded by her loved ones.
Mrs. Gartin was born April 2, 1935, in Greenup, a daughter of the late Elder John W. and Lillian Bays Moore.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James "Peanut" Nolan Gartin; a son, John David Gartin Sr.; two grandchildren, Josy Triplett and Jarred Bennett; two brothers, Carl Moore and Kern Moore; and her sister, Kathleen Grubb.
Juanita worked as a cook at McClures Restaurant in Ashland and had a passion for quilting. Mrs. Gartin was of the Old Regular Baptist faith.
She is survived by her two daughters, Joan and Teddy Triplett of Wurtland and Gail and Bob Allen of Deering, Ohio; her sister, Daphane Nelson of Wurtland; her daughter-in-law, Penny Gartin of Wurtland; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods with Elders Ira Adkins Jr. and Bobby Potter officiating. Burial will be in Little Rosa Cemetery in Greenup.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017, and after noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
