Kelly Thompson's Story
Kelly Thompson "Buck" Mobley, 85, of Sandy Hook, passed away Friday in the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
Buck was born Nov. 4, 1931, in Green, a son of the late Will and Bonnie Rose Mobley. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Mobley and Charles Mobley; one sister, Elaine Butler; three nephews, Roger Stevens, Mac Thompson and David Thompson.
Buck was stationed in Japan with the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a retired pipefitter out of local 521 for many years and he enjoyed working on his farm and raising cattle.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Adkins Mobley of Sandy Hook; one daughter, Kelley Mobley of Sandy Hook; one sister, Lucy Stevens of Sandy Hook; two sisters-in-law, Emogene Thompson of Sandy Hook and Jan (George) Wright of Apache Junction, Ariz.; two nephews, Charles Dale Mobley and Robby Adkins; three nieces, Mary Frances Colwell, Kay Howard and Holly Aldrete; several great-nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends that will sadly mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Waddell & Whitt funeral home in Sandy Hook with Brother Warren Vanover officiating. Burial will be in the Elliott County Memory Gardens in Sandy Hook.
Friends called from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 24, 2017, at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robby Adkins, Bryce Adkins, Charles Dale Mobley, Brandon Howard, Hunter Adkins, Ashley Penix, Brian Craig and Jimmie Whitt.
Honorary pallbearers will be George Wright, Ronnie Stafford, John Conn, Roger Davis, Curt Lewis, James L. Stafford, Darrell Davis and Emory Ernest Davis.
