Kenneth Allen Bates, 79, of Greenup, formerly of Warren, Mich., went to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 17, 2017, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, surrounded by his loving wife, family and close friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
two brothers, Carl J. Bates and William Charles Bates; and one stepson, William Mark Kincaid
Ken was born July 23, 1937, in Detroit, Mich., a son of the late Charles Henry and Isabelle Scott Bates.
He was a former kicker at Eastern Michigan University and a former district manager at Coca-Cola USA in Detroit. He was a member of Little Sandy Baptist Church in Greenup and a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Mildred Hendrickson Kincaid Bates; two daughters, Allison (Randy) Dutton of Madison Heights, Mich., and Jocelyn (Bud) Ayers of Warren, Mich.; one sister-in-law, Janet Bates of Oak Park, Mich.; six grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two nephews; and many other close family and friends who loved him dearly.
A memorial service will be at noon Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Bro. Wayne Stephenson and Pastor Tim Wright.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
