Kenneth Gerald Distel, 77, of Ashland, passed away Friday, July 21, 2017, in Woodland Oaks Nursing Facility.
He was born Dec. 14, 1939, in Ashland, the son of the late Herbert Kenneth and Minnie Hilt Distel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Conley Distel
He was a retired lab tech for Ashland Oil with 34 years of service. He was also an amateur HAM radio operator, a lifelong resident of Ashland, a 1958 graduate of Ashland High School and a member of Second Baptist Church.
Kenneth was also a Navy veteran serving on the USS Belmont.
He is survived by two daughters, Melissa Wright (Jim) of Bean Station, Tenn., and Melinda Stambaugh (Jimmy) of Ashland; one sister, Janice Distel Smith (David) of Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, William Distel (Kathleen) of Louisa; and two grandchildren, Zachary James Wright and Serena Dawn Stambaugh.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Miller Funeral Home with Brother Ed Caudill officiating. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum.
There will be no visitation.
