Larry Eugene Dalton, 61, of Westwood, died Friday, in Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, following a short illness.
Larry was born Feb. 1, 1956, in Westwood, a son of the late Frank and Bertha Burchett Dalton.
"Dood", as he was known to family and friends, was a 1974 graduate of Fairview High School. He was formerly employed with Wheeler Williams Hardware and AT&T. He was a dedicated caregiver to both his parents and always an aid to all his brothers and sisters who depended on him all of those years. His passion in life was good music and the people who make it happen, from plugging in the first amp for Menlo Park to sitting in the floor in a circle with techs and roadies listening to Arlo Guthrie tell stories of his childhood experiences with dad and Pete Seeger. He enjoyed engineering with Soundwave Productions Audio Company, where he forged many close relationships with techs and performers throughout the region. "Dood" is survived by three sisters, Hattie Kelley of Ashland, Mamie (Roger) Salyers, Betty (Darvin) Cordle; two brothers, Frank (Joyce) Dalton and Perry (Patricia) Dalton, all of Westwood; 13 neices and nephews, including Don Salyers who was only two months younger and more like a brother; many many great-nieces, nephews and cousins, who often considered him their gentle giant, giant teddy bear; and a special friend, Kelley Stephens and her grand-daughter Heaven, who "Dood" dearly loved.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Preston Family Funeral Home in Ashland. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
