Leonard A. Roe, 88, of South Shore, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, at his residence.
He was born July 24, 1928, in Fullerton, a son of the late Robert Roe and Fannie Virgin Roe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Greenslate Roe on May 28, 2011; a grandson, Aaron Roe; a brother and four sisters.
Leonard was retired from the N&W Railroad and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Surviving are his children, Mike (Donna) Roe of Richmond, Diana (Paul) Roe of Charleston, S.C., Sheryl (Mike) Salyers of South Portsmouth, KY, Bud (Linda) Roe of Ft. Mitchell, Jimmy (Sharen) Roe of South Shore, Teresa (Keith) Meenach of Old Hickory, Tenn., and Karen (Jeff) Evans of South Shore; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul David Roe; three sisters, Norma Evans, Lucille Mack and Linda Roe.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Collier Memorial Gardens in South Portsmouth with military graveside rites by James Dickey American Legion Post 23.
Morton Funeral Home in South Shore is in charge of arrangements.
Donations are requested to Community Hospice of Ashland.
